Imitating accelerated expansion of the Universe by matter inhomogeneities: corrections of some misunderstandings
نویسندگان
چکیده
A number of misunderstandings about modeling the apparent accelerated expansion of the Universe and about the ‘weak singularity’ are clarified: (1) Of the five definitions of the deceleration parameter given by Hirata and Seljak (HS), only q1 is a correct invariant measure of acceleration/deceleration of expansion. The q3 and q4 are unrelated to acceleration in an inhomogeneous model. (2) The averaging over directions involved in the definition of q4 does not correspond to what is done in observational astronomy. (3) HS’s equation (38) connecting q4 to the flow invariants gives self-contradictory results when applied at the centre of symmetry of the Lemaître–Tolman (L–T) model. The intermediate equation (31) that determines q3′ is correct, but approximate, so it cannot be used for determining the sign of the deceleration parameter. Even so, at the centre of symmetry of the L–T model, it puts no limitation on the sign of q3′(0). (4) The ‘weak singularity’ of Vanderveld et al. is a conical profile of mass density at the centre—a perfectly acceptable configuration. A. Krasiński (B) · K. Bolejko N. The Effect of Inhomogeneities on the Luminosity Distance–Redshift Relation: is Dark Energy Necessary in a Perturbed Universe?
The luminosity distance–redshift relation is one of the fundamental tools of modern cosmology. We compute the luminosity distance–redshift relation in a perturbed flat matter-dominated Universe, taking into account the presence of cosmological inhomogeneities up to second order in perturbation theory. Cosmological observations implementing the luminosity distance–redshift relation tell us that ...

Recently, there has been suggestions that the apparent accelerated expansion of the universe is due not to a cosmological constant, but rather to inhomogeneities in the distribution of matter. In this work, we investigate a specific class of inhomogeneous models that can be solved analytically, namely the dust-dominated Lemâitre-Tolman-Bondi universe models. We show that they do not permit acce...

متن کاملCoupling dark energy to dark matter inhomogeneities
We propose that dark energy in the form of a scalar field could effectively couple to dark matter inhomogeneities. Through this coupling energy could be transferred to/from the scalar field, which could possibly enter an accelerated regime. Though phenomenological, this scenario is interesting as it provides a natural trigger for the onset of the acceleration of the universe, since dark energy ...
متن کاملClusters number counts dependence on dark energy inhomogeneities and coupling to dark matter
Many dark energy candidates have been proposed to explain the accelerated expansion the universe seems to be currently undertaking. Discriminating between them is likely to be a major issue in the near future, and cluster number counts would be a good tool for this. In this article we study scalar field candidates to dark energy which are coupled to dark matter. We focus on comparing the cluste...
